Important Notice for Team Members in the Brevard Area
Posted on Sep 14, 2016
Mission Health System Employee Health Plan was notified unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 12, that Metcalf Pharmacy in Brevard, North Carolina, has sold its non-compound pharmacy business to the CVS Pharmacy in Brevard. This transaction has presented a challenge for team members and dependents who used Metcalf Pharmacy as their primary pharmacy and received Mission Preferred level benefits (reduced co-pays) at this pharmacy.
This means the Mission Preferred level pharmacies in Transylvania County now are limited to only Gordon Family Pharmacy in Brevard and Mission Pharmacy – Lake Toxaway.
While the prescription files have been transferred through the sale to the CVS, this does not make the CVS a Mission Preferred pharmacy, and co-pays will be increased if you purchase prescriptions at CVS. To obtain reduced co-pay levels comparable to what you received at Metcalf Pharmacy, you will have to contact either Gordon Family Pharmacy or Mission Pharmacy – Lake Toxaway, so they can have your prescription information transferred to their pharmacy.
Health Plan leadership, along with Pharmacy leadership, will be discussing longer-term plans to ensure appropriate prescription benefit access to all members of our health plan residing in Transylvania County, especially those that work at the Transylvania Regional Hospital campus. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time, as we just learned of this change this week. If you have questions in the meantime, please email HRDirectConnect@msj.org or call (828) 213-5600.
