Nurses Week 2019

Celebrate Our Nursing Professionals during Nurses Week 2019

It’s not just a job. It’s a calling.
Nurses work nights. They work weekends and holidays.
If there’s a blizzard, they sleep at the hospital – on floor mats if necessary.
Why would someone do a job like this?
Because they care – about our patients, families and community.

Monday, May 6 kicks off Nurses Week at Mission Health – a celebration that aims to recognize the value and countless contributions made by nurses every single day. Nurses take care of patients when they need it most. During Nurses Week, let’s all take the time to thank a nurse who inspires others through their selfless service and sacrifice.

To help honor and commemorate nurses along with their tireless efforts, passionate commitment to caring for patients and embracing a culture of safety and compassion, Mission Health’s seven hospitals across western North Carolina will hold special events throughout the week.

Highlights include the annual tradition known as the “Blessing of the Hands,” along with education fairs, complimentary massages, free meals + sweet treats and plenty of FUN photo ops.

How All Team Members Can Celebrate Nurses Week and #ThankANurse

All team members can celebrate Nurses Week with us by recognizing your nursing colleagues on WooHoo! or participating in our #ThankANurse campaign on social media.

  • Follow @MissionHealthNC on social media and watch for #ThankANurse posts.
  • Look for poster displays and drop boxes at your location where you can write a note that will be shared with nurses.
  • Grab your nursing colleagues and a selfie frame. Use other fun props, take a photo and post it on social media. Use the hashtag #ThankANurse so that our digital and social team can see your photo. You can follow along with the hashtags on social media, too!

The week-long celebration will end on May 12 – the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
