Your Leaders Wish You a Happy Hospital Week!

Dear Mission Health and North Carolina Division Colleagues:

The ability to care for others is innate, however, choosing a profession dedicated to improving human life requires a deeper level of compassion and intuition. While you manage your own life and well-being, you commit every day to caring for others when they need it most – and that is worth talking about.

During this season of celebration, between graduations and Mother’s Day, we find ourselves in the midst of festivities here at Mission Health, too. We wanted to bring your attention to the various celebrations that have taken place recently across Mission Health and HCA Healthcare, and how all of our team members can carry them on this week.

May 6-12 is declared as national Nurses Week to recognize and elevate the nursing profession. The annual observance week follows with Hospital Week, May 12-18, which is especially meaningful to HCA Healthcare. Like Mission Health, HCA Healthcare also began with a single hospital, Park View Hospital in Tennessee. Each of our organizations’ growing commitment to healthcare is a testament to the value and impact we have on the communities we serve, and this week brings to light the life-changing work that you do.

This year’s theme for Nurses Week at Mission Health was “Keeping the Heart in Healthcare.” We invite all of you to embody that theme during Hospital Week as we honor our organization’s history and future together, and the people who truly keep the heart and soul at the forefront of healthcare.

Since Mission Health’s first patient in 1885, Mission Health has represented HCA Healthcare’s belief in delivering healthcare as it should be: patient-centered and for the good of all people. Nearly 135 years of caring and counting, Mission Health’s legacy in western North Carolina and the value you provide to this community is undeniable.

Exceptional healthcare is built on a foundation of inclusion, compassion and respect for our patients and for each other. With our patients at the center of all we do, our chosen career path to serve others means showing up as our very best selves for our patients and each other. We hope this observance week helps you more deeply connect with one another and your workplace, including the 12,000 of you here and your 249,000 colleagues across all of HCA Healthcare who are united in helping create healthier tomorrows for people everywhere.

This week, we hope you will take time to celebrate each other and discover the stories of your colleagues across Mission Health and HCA Healthcare:

We can’t say thank you enough for being a part of Mission Health’s story today, and caring like family for the people who call western North Carolina home. It is an honor to work alongside all 12,000 of you – we look forward to continuing the legacy of improving the health and lives of people in western North Carolina tomorrow and for years to come.

With great appreciation,

Greg, Terence, Kathy and Bill
