A Note from Karen Olsen, CNO – Apply to become the 2020 CNO Liaison

Dear Mission Hospital Registered Nurses,

As we begin a new year it is time to begin accepting applications and nominations for our 5th CNO Clinical Nurse Liaison at Mission Hospital for the 2020-2021 term.  This unique role began in 2016 and is currently held by Caitlyn Merrill, BSN, RN, Professional Nurse Level III.  Caitlyn has led our NUCC (Nursing Unit Chair Council) and CNO Advisory Council in her role.  We are excited to recruit bedside (“clinical”) nurses to have the same opportunity at the end of Caitlyn’s term in May 2020.

Why is this important for nursing?

The liaison role will work closely with me and our nursing leadership team to facilitate professional governance, patient-centered care, important nursing projects, and help to lead clinical professional practice as a bedside clinical leader.  The most exciting part of this term for 2020 is our Magnet site visit and designation!  The opportunity for one’s growth and learning as well as being a part of key decisions involving nursing will be key for this role.

How does this work?

The application or nomination period runs from February 1- March 1, 2020.  You can find the application on Caring Connection, or by contacting Caitlyn Merrill or my EA, Michelle Howard.  We will conduct interviews during March, and will announce the new Liaison in April.  I hope that each of you will consider applying for this position, and I look forward to the opportunity of working with you!
