Introducing the Clinical Certification Support Program

Updated May 11, 2020

Any certification obtained between November 14, 2019 to April 1, 2020 will have until June 1, 2020 to submit for test fee reimbursement and bonus. Beginning June 1, 2020, team members will have 60 days from date of certification to submit for test fee reimbursement and bonus.

Please note, Employees are limited to one bonus for one certification or recertification earned per year.

As part of our ongoing efforts to listen to your needs and support you in your career at Mission Health and HCA Healthcare, we are thrilled to announce a new program that recognizes colleagues who advance their careers by achieving nationally-recognized certifications. Beginning February 20, 2020, the Clinical Certification Support Program will be available for our team members.

The Clinical Certification Support Program applies to all full-time and part-time team members who have completed 90-days of regular employment and work in nursing or other interdisciplinary specialties including pharmacy, sonography, respiratory therapy, informatics, etc. Eligible employees may obtain pre-paid vouchers or reimbursement to cover the test fees required to sit for eligible certifications.

The program will not reimburse costs related to course materials, study guides, test preparation courses, or other preparatory materials or classes. In order to be covered, the certification must not be a requirement for the employee’s current position. Because this is a change from Mission Health’s previous certification policy, this exclusion will not apply to our team members who obtain a new or recertification during the period January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. During this exclusion period, our HR team will be partnering with clinical leadership and diligently evaluating all of Mission Health’s clinical certification requirements to ensure our team members can be reimbursed for a certification earned in this calendar year. We always encourage our team members to pursue certification and we want you to grow in your career and education.

In addition to providing vouchers or reimbursement to assist colleagues in taking their certification tests, Mission colleagues who achieve a qualified certification or recertification will also be eligible to apply for a lump sum bonus in the amount of $500 for full-time and $250 for part-time employees, less normal withholdings. Employees are limited to one bonus for one certification or recertification earned per year.

This Clinical Certification Support Program is in addition to the already-announced Tuition Reimbursement policy, which, through EdAssist, provides tuition reimbursement assistance for eligible colleagues who obtain a degree to advance their career.

Team members who received a certification after November 14, 2019, during the transition to the certification policy, will be eligible for test fee reimbursement with proof of receipt of payment and passing. Please refer to the work instructions located in the policy detailing all information needed for this submission.
