Celebrate Our Nursing Professionals during Nurses Week 2020

Every May, National Nurses Week brings an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the nurses serving our Mission Health hospitals and communities. This year, though, is different. As the world confronts a pandemic, we are seeing unparalleled sacrifice and dedication from our nurses who are caring for patients on the front lines.

Nurses Week begins Wednesday, May 6 – a celebration that aims to recognize the value and countless contributions made by nurses every single day. Let’s all take the time to thank a nurse who inspires others through their selfless service and sacrifice.

To help honor and commemorate nurses along with their tireless efforts, passionate commitment to caring for patients and embracing a culture of safety and compassion, Mission Health’s seven hospitals across western North Carolina will hold special events throughout the week.

While our Nurses Week celebrations may look a little different this year due to COVID-19, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate and recognize our nurses. Some event highlights include #ThankANurse photo ops, sweet treats and Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday!

How All Team Members Can Celebrate Nurses Week and #ThankANurse

All team members can celebrate Nurses Week with us by recognizing your nursing colleagues on WooHoo! or participating in our #ThankANurse campaign on social media.

  • Follow @MissionHealthNC on social media and watch for #ThankANurse posts.
  • Hop on WooHoo! and recognize a nurse using the new Thank a Nurse recognition category! Make a team member’s day by sending them a note of gratitude during Nurses Week.
  • Grab your nursing colleagues and a selfie frame (make sure to wear your mask!). Use other fun props, take a photo and post it on social media. Use the hashtag #ThankANurse so that our digital and social team can see your photo or send your photo to MHAV.MissionHealthScope@hcahealthcare.com.* You can follow along with the hashtags on social media, too!

The week-long celebration will end on Tuesday, May 12 – the 2ooth birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
