Celebrate Certified Nurses at Mission Health – March 19, 2021
Did you know Thursday, March 19 is National Certified Nurses Day? Help us celebrate nearly 700 RNs across Mission Health who have taken their nursing practice to the next level by achieving certification.
What is the value of Certification?
Certification in any field is a “mark of professionalism.” Particularly in nursing, certification indicates a level of excellence that attests to the highest standards of practice and leadership.
Essentially, nursing board certification enables our patients to more readily identify competence and quality; it validates advanced knowledge and competence in a specialty. The American Board of Nursing Specialties defines certification as “the formal recognition of the specialized knowledge, skills and experience demonstrated by the achievement of standards identified by a nursing specialty to promote optimal health outcomes.”
Today, more than ever, nurses operate in environments that demand accountability and validation of learning. Education qualifications and licensure provide basic requirements for nurses and attest to discipline-specific knowledge and practice legitimacy. Experience adds knowledge and skill in a particular role or activity through training, observation of practice and personal participation.
Celebrate Our Certified Nurses
Help us celebrate and recognize our nurses for furthering their knowledge, education and skills through certification. Here’s how you can get creative with your celebrations:
- Decorate your unit or break room with signs of gratitude
- Send a note of recognition to your certified colleagues via email or unit-based recognition program
- Leaders, create a Celebration Cart and fill it with individually wrapped goodies or fill up some goodie bags for your certified nurses
A Note of Thanks To Our Certified Nurses
Today, we recognize and thank you for your commitment to our patients and to high-quality care. Every year on Certified Nurses Day, we get the opportunity to let you know how much you’re appreciated as a certified nurse for all that you do. Mission Health Nursing Professional Development Council congratulates you on achieving and maintaining your national board certification in your nursing specialty.
