Meet Andria Eker.
She is a pharmacist at Medical Center Pharmacy in Asheville, where she supervises MedPoint, the “meds to beds” bedside prescription delivery program.
Andria earned her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy, where she also completed her Post Graduate Year One (PGY1) Community Pharmacy Residency.
Prior to joining our team at Mission, Andria worked in several diverse roles that have allowed for opportunities to provide a myriad of clinical services through the transition of care process, medication therapy management (MTM) and chronic disease state management. Throughout her pharmacy career, she has served as a clinical coordinator and residency site director for Walgreens and Kerr Drug, as director of Sona Access for Sona Pharmacies, and as a member of the PRN clinical pharmacist faculty for the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC). Andria is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP), as well as a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP).
When not serving patients, her description of a perfect Saturday from April to October is going to the North Asheville Tailgate Market in the morning, volunteering at Loving Food Resources during the afternoon, and then either listening to jazz or watching an outdoor movie on the patio with her husband, Paul, and dog, Petunia.
What does Andria enjoys about working at Medical Center Pharmacy? “I enjoy solving problems and figuring out how things fit together. Being a pharmacist at Medical Center Pharmacy gives me the opportunity to be involved in the care of patients discharging home from the hospital. It is rewarding to be able to solve medication-related problems for these patients before they even know they have problems.”
