Flu Season Ahead – What You Need to Know about This Year’s Flu Vaccine and Exemption Process

Mission Health recognizes that getting an annual flu vaccine is one of the best ways to protect our patients, community and fellow team members from harm. This season, staff will be required to get their flu shot by 11:59 pm on October 31, 2021, unless approved for an exemption. In preparation for flu season, team members can either:

• Get a flu shot at a Mission WorkWell location
• Get a flu shot at a non-Mission WorkWell clinic
• Request a medical or religious exemption

Per our immunization policy (1IC.ADM.0001): 

• All unvaccinated team members will be required to wear a medical face mask at all times within the walls of our facilities or when providing care in patient homes or alternate settings beginning November 18, 2021 until the end of the flu season. This will be the case throughout the duration of flu season.

The staff immunization policy (1IC.ADM.0001) is posted on Mission On Demand (MOD). The policy provides detailed instruction on how to request a medical or religious exemption.
