Conscious Communication: Intent vs. Impact

This course is recommended for: All Leaders and Team Members

“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.” –George Bernard Shaw

What happens when your attempts at communication go a bit awry? When your impact doesn’t match up with your intent? A lot of communication mishaps come down to this one issue: intent versus impact. Part of being a successful communicator is the ability to identify these potential situations and knowing how to successfully navigate them.

In this course, participants will increase their understanding of the dynamic process of communication from intent (which happens before communication) through impact (which happens after communication), and increase their awareness as well as their ability to effectively influence through communication.

Please note: This class is an elective and is not the same as Compassionate Communication (formerly Communication in Healthcare), which is a required course that is discussed in General Orientation (GO) and follow-up after GO.
